2013 EAGLE NEST EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Polar Bear Plunge – ☺January 1st-11:00a.m.- At Eagle Nest Lake State Park – What a way to bring in the New Year! We remove the ice long enough for all you adventurous jumpers to christen yourselves in our beautiful waters! Paramedics on hand! Bring your camera and be ready to capture some great shots.
Ice Fishing Tournament – February 9. At Eagle Nest Lake- Another whopper! Think trout, salmon, and perch! Lots of prizes! Call Chamber of Commerce for info. 575-377-2420
Mardi Gras Celebration-Fat Tuesday, February 12. Parade, floats, and Cajun food.
Run for the Wall- May 17th –☺ 6:30 p.m.-We will provide a special dinner for the RFTW riders. May 18th- 5:30 a.m.- We will serve a free breakfast for the veterans as they ride motorcycles across the country to the Wall in Washington. www.rftw.org Eagle Nest Senior Center. A HUGE SUCCESS WITH OVER 550 MEALS SERVED!
Annual Living History Rendezvous – July 1-7. This is a living history rendezvous pre-dating 1899. Come out and enjoy vendors and visitors alike in period costume and encampment, flint knapping, tanning, blacksmithing, primitive archery, tomahawk and knife throwing and much more! Fun for the whole family! Held at the Enchanted Circle Gateway Museum. Call 575-224-0243 for more info.
July 4th–☺July 4th. Experience this home town 4th of July Parade with all the bells and whistles along with the Fireman’s BBQ, and local merchants selling their wares all topped off with a spectacular fireworks display over Eagle Nest Lake.
The Great Outdoors Camp – Dates to be determined in July. Free, weeklong summer camp for kids ages 10-14. Kids will experience archery, bb gun safety, fish & bird identification, lake stocking of fish, fishing, outdoor cooking, mountain lion & bear safety and much more! 9-noon daily. Does require a children’s fishing license. This is a partnership between NM Parks Dept, NM Game & Fish, Eagle Nest Chamber of Commerce, and Friends of Eagle Nest Lake & Cimarron Canyon State Parks. 31st Annual High Country Arts and Crafts Festival – ☺July 27th-28th. Juried artisans & craftsmen with hand made items come from all over the country for this indoor/outdoor event! Peruse the booths displaying everything from Native American art to hand made knives, pottery, paintings, fiber art & much more.
Miss New Mexico Saloon Girl 2012 Competition – Sponsored & hosted by the Laguna Vista Saloon, from Aug. 30 & 31st & Sept. 1st, includes the Annual Saloon Girl Competition, a hoedown, door prizes & a great time at this beautiful, historic saloon and all around Eagle Nest!
Run for the Wall Reunion – August 30th & 31st
Fishfest – ☺September 21-29th – It’s a whopper! Held on the beautiful Eagle Nest Lake! The fishing tournament is sponsored & hosted by the Eagle Nest Marina. On the 28th Laguna Vista Saloon hosts a Worm Eating Contest! It’s a fun event for families and everyone!
Farmer’s Market in Eagle Nest - ☺Come sample & purchase the freshest of local produce, eggs, wild caught salmon & lots of other goodies. We have even found pickled eggs and homemade butter there! Every Friday from 11:00-3:00 June through Labor Day Friday at the Golden Eagle RV Park, 540 West Therma.
Community Christmas Potluck Supper – ☺Bring a dish to share at this amazingly festive Holiday meal…the old fashioned way. To be held at the Village Community Center. Cohosted by the Village and the Chamber of Commerce. December. Contact the Chamber.
New Year’s Eve Dinner – A great dinner & live music at a reasonable price. Date & location to be determined.
